Wow, it’s literally been months since I posted on here, very aware I am that no one is actually reading it but nonetheless, I am determined to have some sort of record of what we are doing here, and maybe someone will read it one day and find it interesting and hopefully of some help in some way.
Anyway, where have we been and what have we been up to for the past 11 months??? Well, we have definitely moved aboard, which was a great relief, although I still see photos occasionally of the old house with a stab of melancholy, it is only for a moment and I find myself back here happy as a pig in mud. We love this boat we have decided to call Katsumi which in Japanese means ‘victorious beauty’, or to me ‘victory’. This has been a dream of ours for the past 20 years and it has finally happened, so we feel victorious.
It’s very comfortable for all four of us, the girls have their own cabins and share a head with it’s own electric loo and separate shower. Plenty of room in there for both girls and an adult to shower in. Upstairs is the galley and lounge/dining area, although outside we have a separate dining area that is just as big. We now have air con which is located in the saloon but does also make an impact downstairs. My DH has installed an LCD DVD/TV in here and a 12v fan for the chef if needing extra air flow. The windows in the front open up and also allow for a lovely flow of air at anchor, in the marina we just leave the air con on all the time as their are bugs here at night and at dawn. I love the wrap around windows that give you almost 360deg views, and the chef can watch the goings on from either inside or out without feeling like she (in my case) is on her own slaving away!
Our cabin is on the stbd side and includes the whole side. We have our cabin in the aft section which has a Queen walk around bed, and we have installed an LCD DVD/TV in their and a cabin 12v fan which is great when we are on the hook and don’t use the a/c. In the middle of our side is the office/dressing room which is as large as any home office and in the bow is the bathroom with separate shower and electric toilet.
We have three fridges, one inside, two outside and they all have freezers. Two are the same size and have little freezers in the top almost like a large bar fridge each, then we have an 80L Waeco under the seats which can be all freezer, all fridge or fridge freezer. At the moment it is the beer fridge 🙂
There is a Baby Weber Q for outdoor cooking which is great for keeping bacon smells outside and the inside cool when we are cooking a roast. They don’t look big but the capacity is fantastic, it’s like a Dr Who Tardis in there! We have had some lovely food out of it, it cooks beautifully. My favourite is the Portuguese Chicken, maybe I will start up a recipe section in here somewhere as well?
Anyway, it’s dinner time and the kiddies are too busy for my liking so I better get back to it. I hear an echo when I type, because no one is listening yet, but someday, someone will 🙂
