Just a quick one to update you on some little comfort adjustments we have made to the boat recently!
Firstly, it was bothering the skipper immensely that storing the toys on top of the davits meant they were rubbing on the lines for the tender. Quick solution was to use the stainless steel posts we have for the bow tent that normally attach to the bow seats to raise up the tent. Since it’s a bit windy to use it here they are simply being stored at the moment. We intend however to get some new SS poles made for the purpose so that we can still store the toys when the tent is up. For now though it’s a good little upgrade.
Secondly we are having custom made a new fiberglass ‘box’ from with a foam core and lid with catches to match the rest on the boat. It will store the bins and the gas bottle from the Weber BBQ that normally sit there but are a major eyesore, as you can see by this pic.) It will neaten everything up and will look like it came with the boat. It’ll also double as a bench/seat. We had the option of adding a foam vinyl clad cushion but decided to go with the lid instead. If someone wants to sit on it they can use a towel. At least we won’t have to worry about it getting scratched or marked this way plus we couldn’t decide on a colour since we intend to change out the grey of the outdoor seats eventually.
Since we have a new box coming we moved the Weber BBQ to the handrail and put in two stainless steel tubes to hold it. It’s a great little spot, really handy and much better height. Also easy to push it in if it catches fire!
Recently we installed new lithium batteries and I’m nagging the skipper to write a post about it all for you since it’s all over my head. I’ll keep you informed.
Other things on our list now before we can go cruising are:
- Replacing the trampoline netting
- Sourcing a water maker
- Purchasing an iridium phone
So watch this space, changes are a coming!
